The Mufti of Perlis, Prof Madya Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin has advised Muslims to be careful when buying or reading Hadith (Hadis) related to Prophet Muhammad.

Dr Mohd Asri said the contents of some Hadiths are not in conformity with the Sharriah and Islamic etiquettes while some are spreading wrong teachings.

He said he was worried that such false or wrong teachings might be widespread among those who do not attend lessons from certified religious scholars.

Dr Mohd Asri claimed that the 'Kitab Duratun Nasihin' which contained various segments of false interpretation was being used by religious people who conducted 'ceramah' (religious talk).

"The wrong or false contents in such books can taint the good image of Islam," he said.

He also urged Muslims to not misuse the versus in the Al-Quran for their own benefit like enhancing their business or using Islamic teachings to attract business.

The Hadith is the record of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad. The sayings and conduct of Prophet Muhammad constitute the Sunnah and supplement the Holy Quran as a source of the Islamic religious law.

The Hadith is the second pillar after the Quran upon which every Muslim rests his faith.
