Perlis is a politically stable and economically robust state that can provide various job opportunities for the local people, said Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.

He said Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) being developed with the cooperation of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) was expected to start operating in June.

"CVIA , which is also equipped with the Perlis Inland Port, is poised to make Padang Besar the biggest industrial area and logistics hub in Perlis," he told a media conference here today.

He said this when asked to comment on the political development in Perlis, which is deemed to be "too quiet" compared to other states.

In March, Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail consented to launch the CVIA project in Chuping which comprised two main components, namely an industrial area (1,011.7 hectares) and inland port (204.6 hectares).
