The government is encouraging the people to download MySejahtera, MyTrace and Gerak applications to facilitate their business especially when it comes to entering shopping malls or restaurants.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government is not preventing them from downloading applications provided by the state government.

"We do not want to prevent the state government from having its own application but for the Federal Government, we have MySpace, MyTrace and Gerak. The Gerak app we will use later and in the application, the user will get a QR code.

“Later when they go to the mall, they just have to use the code and don't have to write names and so on ... just enough with QR code.

"I encourage the people to download applications from the Federal Government," he said at a daily press conference here on Thursday.

State governments such as Selangor and Terengganu have also developed their own applications to help record customer information coming to certain premises.

The move, however, is said to cause confusion among the people who are unsure of which application they should download and use.
