Guidelines to own affordable housing in Penang will be fine-tuned for the convenience of buyers, said State Housing, Rural and Urban Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo.

He said the state government would consider proposals from developers for affordable housing with build-up areas of up to 900 square feet.

"Based on discussions with developers, a proposal regarding the size of the area of the house will be refined by the state government as part of the guidelines for affordable housing," he told a press conference Tuesday.

The current size of affordable houses in Penang is not more than 850 square feet.

The state government would hold Series 2 Affordable Housing Expo on July 30 and 31 at the Prangin Mall.
