Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan on Tuesday urged parents to constantly monitor their children's performance in school to prevent or remedy any problems which may arise.

He said parents needed to take proactive measures and ensure that they, along with the teachers, could create a future generation which was well educated.

"Parents should not just send children to school without taking into account their progress there, parents should always monitor the performance of the children, because from there, many things can be detected and thus, avoided.

"This is also part of efforts to make their children excel in academics and co-curricular activities," he said in a speech during the inauguration ceremony of SMK Bandar Baru Sri Sendayan here, today.

Mohamad stressed that parents should not think of their children's education expenses as a cost, but rather a form of investment for the future.

At the event, Mohamad also presented a mock cheque worth RM50,000 to the school.
