Pakatan Rakyat will govern the country after the 14th General Election (GE14) if the government fails to resolve the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue as soon as possible.

Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his latest blog post said said it is a big pull factor for him to effectively discontinue his support towards the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“When I first learnt about the 1MDB issue, I feel the situation has worsened. At that time, information was sparse. I made a decision to send Najib a letter stating that I would not support him anymore.

“Najib only instructed the closest person to him to tell me to retract my letter. Just because it didn’t indicate my support, I was forced to disclose everything myself.

“I’ve received a lot more information about 1MDB. I was utterly shocked with the exorbitant amount of debt. The government never had that much debt. These debts were done off-budget, without the approval from the Cabinet or Dewan Rakyat,” said Tun Mahathir in his latest blog post.

Dr Mahathir, however voiced his concern if the country is governed by Pakatan.

Solve 1MDB woes, the rakyat is waiting - Khairy

“The fundamentals within the parties in Pakatan are contradicting. DAP merely places emphasis on the privilege of the Chinese people. PAS claims that it is Malay, purely Islam.

“PAS is Islamic for the sake of politics and not genuinely for the religion. That is why PAS can influence UMNO to cooperate with non-Muslims but PAS would later embrace them (non-Muslims). Parti Keadilan is merely a platform for Anwar to become the Prime Minister.

“If Pakatan becomes the government, chaos will ensue. The country’s progress will be badly affected and the rakyat will suffer,” he stressed.
