The Royal Malaysian Police would summon 1Malaysia Development Berhad former chief executive officer, Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi to testify on issues pertaining the company following the outcome of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Parliament on April 7.

Inspector-general of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today also said the police have summoned several individuals to assist in the 1MDB probe.

He said that these individuals are either from the government-owned strategic investment company or those linked to it.

Khalid meanwhile, declined to reveal the exact number of witnesses involved.

"I cannot set 10 people or 20 people because it depends on the investigation, who else should be called, what documents to be reviewed and so on.

"So do not ask me how many (witnesses) will be called, when the investigation will be ready, give us time. (So far) there are a few people who have been called," said Khalid.

He explained that the police special team was formed on Friday comprising of Crime Investigation Department and Commercial Crime Investigation Department.

The special team headed by Khalid is still analysing the 106-page PAC final report to complete the investigation before handing it over to the Attorney-General’s office.

Khalid told reporters after attending a blood donation programme at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in the capital today.
