Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today expressed his concern over the fate of MT Orkim Harmony, te missing oil tanker carrying 6,000 metric tonnes of RON95 petrol.

Najib, in his Twitter account, said he is distressed by the news of the missing Malaysian-registered tanker and that the government will deploy their resources to locate it.

This tweet came barely two hours before Najib’s first tweet in which he said the tanker was 'hijacked'.

Earlier, Bernama reported that the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has deployed three vessels to search for the oil tanker which was reportedly missing last Thursday, at 30 nautical miles east of Tanjung Sedili, Kota Tinggi in Johor.

The KD Terengganu, KD Pendekar and KD Ganyang are locating the MT Orkim Harmony which was carrying 22 crewmen on board.

RMN Chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar had earlier confirmed that 150 RMN personnel were involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
