The number of flood victims in Perak rose to 553 from 176 families as at 9pm compared to 437 from 139 families as recorded at noon.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat 10 relief centres were still opened, namely in Manjung, Kuala Kangsar, Central Perak, Hilir Perak, Larut Matang and Selama, as well as Kinta.

Manjung has the highest number of evacuees at 425 people, 175 of whom were housed at Inderawati public hall, 67 at Kampung Kota community hall, and 183 at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Kampung Padang Serai.

Sixty-eight people were housed at two relief centres in Larut Matang and Selama, namely at the surau in Kampung Jawa, Trong (39 victims) and Kampung Matang Merbau community hall, Trong (29 victims).

In Kinta, eight victims were currently taking shelter at Kampung Piandang community hall, Batu Gajah, while in Hilir Perak, 32 evacuees were housed at SK Pengkalan Ara, the secretariat said in a statement here tonight.

Six evacuees were housed at Surau Al Karimiah Talang Hulu in Kuala Kangsar, four in Surau Kampung Talang, Belanja Kiri, Parit and 10 others in Surau Nurul Jannah, Parit 6 in Hilir Perak. - BERNAMA
