While Muslims are busy preparing for the first day of Syawal this weekend and other children are excited to celebrate it, the story of five siblings from Taman Perwira, Tok Saboh here, is sorrowful.

Their mother, Akma Ismail, 41, their only person to rely on, is fighting with breast cancer - at stage four.

Diagnosed with cancer only a week ago, she was admitted at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kubang Kerian and now on life support machine.

According to the eldest son in the family, Mohd Azri Irfan Zahari, 14, since his mother was warded, he and his brother Mohd Azri Imran, 13, had to skip school.

They have to take care of their mother at the hospital.

Their parents had separated three years ago.

Since then, their mother took care of them, earns a living from sewing clothes, operating from their Projek Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) house.

They have three other siblings, Azrin Elia Balkis, 11, Mohd Aziq Israf, 6, dan Azlini Elisya Qistina, 3.

Although their mother has bought them each a pair of new 'Baju Raya' before she was admitted, the coming Aidilfitri is not something they look forward to.

"We are not that happy, because I am not very confident to take care of my brothers and sisters without my mother.

"It’s been a week (since mother was admitted), she is still weak. Am seeking for help from my aunties. Please do not separate us.

"I hope mother will not leave us behind, I am not ready for this responsibility,” said Mohd Azri Irfan when met by Astro AWANI.

While Mohd Azri Irfan and Mohd Azri Imran take turns to accompany their mother at the hospital, the younger siblings are left with their grandparents.

Even though the kids have their grandparents who live nearby, they still yearn for their doting mother who has been very close to them since their father left them.

The five siblings now could only pray for a miracle that their mother would be healed and become healthy again and Aidilfitri would be more meaningful for them.
