Philippine authorities today confirmed that no wreckage belonging to MH370 had been found in the south of the country.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said, the confirmation dismissed earlier allegations that an aircraft wreckage, believed to be MH370, was found in the country.

“It’s not true. Philippine authorities have confirmed there is no aircraft wreckage,” he told Bernama today.

On Saturday, a report had been lodged at the Sandakan police station by Jamil Omar who claimed his aunt had stumbled upon the aircraft wreckage on Sugbay Island, Tawi-Tawi in the Philippines early September.

In the report, Jamil also claimed his aunt saw many human skeletons and bones inside the aircraft and found a Malaysian flag measuring 178 cm long and 89 cm wide.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 was reported missing on March 8, 2014 while on its way to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur with 239 passengers and crew members on board.

The search for the aircraft was mainly focused in the southern Indian Ocean where the plane is believed to have ended.
