: Students will not be allowed to travel interstate to attend interview at institutions of higher learning (IPT), said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the situation did not hinder the process of admission to universities or other IPTs as the interviews could still be conducted online.
“We really don't allow interstate travel. Two days ago, there was a question about job interviews that needed interstate travel and we said just do it online, just like for the students.
“Students can go for interview online and this is already happening. The university has been running online since last April,” he said at a press conference here on Friday.
Ismail Sabri added that those who do not have Internet access in their home area could use appropriate methods including recording videos using their handphones and then sending them to the university.
"There may be questions... for people living in areas where there is no Internet, in rural areas, for example. Universities (actually) have allowed them to use their cell phones or smartphones to record videos and send them to the universities.
"These days, it is not always possible to have face-to-face interviews, so use virtual methods," he said.
