A motion for a vote of no confidence on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister has been accepted by the Dewan Rakyat for debate.

It was after the private motion from MP for Langkawi Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was listed as no. 27th in the order of Meeting Rules and Motions (AUM DR 13/7/2020).

Citing the AUM, Dr Mahathir would table the proposal through the Rules of Meeting 26 (1) read together with the House Rules 27 (3) of the Dewan Rakyat Meeting Rules.

"The House gives permission to the Honorable Member for Langkawi to propose a motion that according to Meeting Rule 26 (1) read together with Meeting Rule 27 (3), in the Rules of Meeting of the Dewan Rakyat, submit a resolution that Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Honorable Member of Pagoh does not have the confidence of the majority of the Honorable Members of the Dewan Rakyat," the motion was quoted.

In early May, Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof confirmed receiving the motion from Dr Mahathir.

Through AUM DR 13/7/2020, several motions to support Muhyiddin as Prime Minister were also listed.

It includes a motion from Pasir Puteh Member of Parliament, Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh; Sabak Bernam Member of Parliament, Datuk Mohd Fasiah Mohd Fakeh and Arau Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim in no. 28, 29 and 30 in the order respectively.
