Floods have forced the closure of nine schools in four districts in Sabah.

Sabah director of education Datuk Maimunah Suhaibul said in a statement that 3,806 pupils had to stay away from school today in and around Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tuaran and Kota Belud.

She named the schools as Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Darau, SK Kitobu and SK Rampayan in Kota Kinabalu; SK Kem Lok Kawi in Penampang; SK Lapotung, SK Rungus, SK Togop and SJKC Chung Hwa, Tenghilan, in Tuaran and SK Timbang in Kota Belud.

Altogether, 272 teachers were affected by the closure of the schools, she said.
