Local authorities and the police have been ordered to close nightclubs that were operating while the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was still in force.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, any nightclubs that stayed open for patrons were in violation of the law.

"There is still no permit for nightclubs to be opened. Any operating nightclub is considered to be in violation of the laws and regulations.

"I hope that the police and local authorities can take immediate action to ensure that nightclubs remain closed, otherwise they are violating the law," he told a daily press conference here on Saturday.

He said this in response to questions from journalists that nightclubs were promoting their business on social sites.
