The formation of the National Consultative Committee on Political Funding (JKNMPP) as announced by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak earlier today is important to curb money politics, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan.

“The apex of the integrity of the country is the political institution, so this is something we need to put in place to reduce and curb money politics.

“This is a very important change in the political areana of the country,” he told Astro AWANI today.
JKNMPP will be chaired by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan and Senator Datuk Seri Idris Jala as Deputy Chairman.

“As this is a consultative process, it involves various parties from civil society, non-governmental organizations, all political parties, academicians and experts. I just hope they will cooperate with me.

“This is not political, this is something that needs to be done for the good of the country,” he said.

Earlier, Najib said the plan is essential in addressing issues regarding political funding, especially when there is no regulation that could determine whether it was right or wrong, although there are some regulations on election expenses.
