The Prime Minister’s brother, Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, Sunday made an unfeigned plea to place the country’s interests before their own during these ‘dark political times’.

The banker, who is the CIMB Group chairman, posted his message via Instagram photo-sharing service as a caption to the image of the 'Tugu Negara' (National Monument).

The caption reads: “they gave their lives so we could build a nation. In this darkest of political times we must remember to place the country & rakyat first.

“Not personal interests, not personal loyalties, not even party politics,” said the 49-year-old banker.

A week ago, Nazir posted a rather interesting post boasting the image of ‘Truth Next Exit’.

The caption reads, “I hope so. Our institutions must get there quickly. Malaysians feeling truth deprived … depressing and divise. After truth we can find reconciliation.

The post received more than 740 likes and a series of mixed responses from his 11,000 followers.

The brother to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has in recent months been a vocal figure on topics of corporate jurisdictions, regularly lambasting 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The national strategic government agency is under probe by at least four federal agencies.

The latest development in the 1MDB controversy is an allegation by the Wall Street Journal that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) of the firm’s funds had gone into Najib’s personal account.

Najib denied the report and said he will take legal action against the US newspaper tomorrow.
