Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said she fully agreed to suggestions that the just completed Batang Sadong Bridge be named Jambatan Tan Sri Adenan Satem in remembrance of the late chief minister’s contribution to the state.

“I have no objection but let's leave it to the government to decide …I will support it because our former chief minister was also a former Member of Parliament for Batang Sadong.

“It is actually a good way to remember somebody but I still have to leave it to the government and it is not for me to say,” she said, adding that it would be a good legacy for Sarawak.

Asked if there were any other places that could be named after Adenan, Nancy who is MP for Batang Sadong, pointed out that there were quite a number of places in Sarawak.

“He (Adenan) was a man who had been encouraging harmony and unity, maybe there are some of the parks in the State that could be named after him in remembrance of his legacy,” he said.

The Batang Sadong bridge measuring 1.48km long and costing RM231 million was officially declared open by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Dec 18 last year. - BERNAMA
