Daniyar Kesikbayev, son-in-law of the prime minister, today lodged a police report claiming that a post on a blog contained statements that are false and slanderous and damaged his reputation.

The report was made at the Dang Wangi District Police headquarters here at about 4.30 pm by his lawyer, Noorhajran Mohd Noor, against Raub MP Datuk Mohd Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz over the article in the 'Sakmongkol AK47' blog.

Daniyar had earlier sought an apology from the DAP member over the contents of the article.

The article had alleged that a major project was offered to Daniyar on Nov 24 without a tender process.

"My client, as a citizen of a foreign country, deeply regrets the action and slander that have been brought against him," Noorhajran said.

"It is also an unhealthy act for the country's future whereby any irresponsible person can tarnish the reputation of and hurl slander at anyone with ease," she said in a statement.

Noorhajran said her client challenged Mohd Ariff Sabri to furnish proof of his allegation and state where he had obtained the information.

"Mohd Ariff Sabri, in his blog post, has defamed not only my client but also the prime minister," she said.
