BEING political foes proved to be not an obstacle for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to show respect to his former boss Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Even though the enemy is the individual responsible for causing Barisan Nasional (BN) to lose power after 62 years, Najib still took the opportunity to wish Dr Mahathir on his 95th birthday.

“Happy 95th birthday, Sir.

"May Tun Dr Mahathir be blessed with calmness, good health and a long life," said the Pekan Member of Parliament in a post on his official Facebook today.

For the first time in the history of Barisan Nasional, the coalition lost its power to rule the country since its inception in 1973 when they lost to Pakatan Harapan led by Dr Mahathir himself in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018.

But a political crisis earlier this year saw the Langkawi MP taking drastic steps to resign as Pakatan Harapan chairman and Prime Minister, leading to the fall of the government he led.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is currently the prime minister with the entry of the Barisan Nasional and PAS into a government known as the Perikatan Nasional (PN).
