Puteri UMNO should take the responsibility of convincing the younger generation that UMNO's struggle is the best for them and the country, compared to that of the opposition.

The challenge was posed by UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today, in line with the government's aspiration to produce more young women icons in the country.

"As the UMNO President, I want Puteri UMNO to work hard to make the younger generation, young women to realise that the struggle spearheaded by UMNO and the Barisan Nasional is the best for them and the country.

"This is the task of Puteri (UMNO), to convince the younger generation, to make them understand why our platform is the best, why we have development and transformation agenda.

"Why is it the other side (opposition) was always playing up the hatred politics, talking bad about others, but they do not have a better agenda for the country," he said.

The Prime Minister said this in his speech when launching the Festival of Young Women organised by Puteri UMNO at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

At the same time, he wants the movement to prepare the young women in this country to face the challenges ahead.

"It should transcend politics because we are more idealistic, not only in terms of getting their votes only.

"Our second task is to prepare the young women by providing them with all kinds of strength, be it in the form of knowledge, spiritual, soft skill, leadership, networking and everything," he said.

Therefore, he believes, Puteri UMNO is capable of carrying out the mandate and produce young women who are more sustainable in facing future challenges.
