Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor can use their power to stop the purchase of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) land by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

According to PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, things can be done without breaking any laws as it is under the duo's jurisdiction.

"The authority to approve the transfer of land after a sale and purchase transaction is authorised by Federal Territory Land and Mines Office, under the jurisdiction of the Federal Territories Minister, Tengku Adnan and Najib as 1MDB advisory board chairman.

"All of this can be done without breaking the law and it is within the jurisdiction of Najib and Tengku Adnan," Rafizi said in a media statement today.

He said the purchase agreement can be put on hold as 1MDB has not fulfilled all conditions of the sale.

"I am confident that the agreement for the purchase of land involving the funds of RM188.5 million has not been finalised as the ownership has not been transferred to TH.

"Therefore, there is an opportunity to stop the sale and purchase to enable the RM188.5 million fund owned by TH depositors (including my own savings) remain untouched," he said.

Rafizi also informed that a meeting with all TH depositors will be held on May 13 at 9pm to urge the Federal Government to use its powers to stop the use of the fund.

Meanwhile, PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa said TH should cancel the purchase of the 1MDB property.

Husam also called for the resignation of the those involved in this deal.

"The step taken for TH to lodge a police report after official information regarding the purchase was leaked is embarrassing. What’s more noble is for them to put a stop to the purchase.

“Even more noble is for those involved to step down, apart from those responsible for the the leaked information and for this unacceptable purchase,” Husam said in a statement.

Earlier, 'The BENCHMARK' blog and other blogs uploaded several documents which showed the purchase of tow plots of land at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) valued at RM772 million, using the money deposited by contributors and not the government’s money.

The purchase became an issue as it is seen that TH is trying to redeem part of 1MDB’s debt worth RM42 billion.

TH also made a police report on Thursday for the ‘leaked document’ for the land transaction.

The report made TH Deputy Group Managing Director and deputy CEO Datuk Johan Abdullah at the Dang Wangi police station, in which he said 'The BENCHMARK' blog manipulated some of the facts regarding the investment of TH to buy TRX land.
