Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has vehemently denied his father, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the mastermind behind the revealing of the issues plaguing the debt-stricken, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The UMNO Youth has also dismissed allegations linking his father to any of the allegations by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Friday.

"I am puzzled by the Prime Minister's remark ... I'm assuming he had other information but I don’t believe that if Tun Mahathir has highlighted several issues related to 1MDB, the fact remains that he was never involved in any efforts to forge any documents or became the mastermind behind the WSJ report. This is totally unfair." Mukhriz told reporters at the ceremony to present post-flood donation (farming and agriculture) ceremony at Dewan Sultan Abdul Halim, Kolej Universiti Insaniah, here Monday.

Recently, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had alleged that Dr Mahathir was the mastermind behind the WSJ report which alleged US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) had been improperly transferred into his personal account.
