After failing to bring a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in the Dewan Rakyat recently, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has now disputed the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government which he claimed had 'violated' the system and the Federal Constitution.
The Langkawi Member of Parliament explained that he had taken such an action after being disappointed that the motion was not debated in Parliament.
“The government's motion comes first, so there is no time for my motion to be tabled and debated. In this way, my motion will not be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat at all.
"Since I could not submit my motion in Parliament, I had to post this motion on my blog for the public to see," he said in a statement on Facebook and chedet.com.
In the motion, Dr Mahathir among others listed dozens of reasons why the motion was made against the Pagoh Member of Parliament, including claiming that the appointment of a Prime Minister without a General Election (GE) undermines the people's trust and right to determine their chosen government.
“What is clear is that the voice of the people has no value in Malaysia anymore. Because through the back door, the party rejected by the people can be the government. The people are deceived in this way.
“What is the point of having the GE if those rejected by the people can form a government and those elected by them are overthrown by fraud.
"This is the main reason I put forward a motion of no confidence in YAB Tan Sri from Pagoh as Prime Minister," he said.
Dr Mahathir also claimed that the Perikatan Nasional government led by Muhyiddin deprived the people of their right to vote in the last general election.
“As Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) himself admits, Tan Sri's government is not the people's choice government. It is the result of fraud against the people who are struggling to come from far and near to vote.
"We do not need a law to prevent such scams. We hope politicians in Malaysia have high morale and reject corruption and fraud.
"If not, then the country will be destroyed because it will be ruled by rogues and bandits," he said.
In the motion, Dr Mahathir also suggested that the PN government hand over power to those who were entitled to it.
