Malaysia ready to face possibility of TPPA cancellation

Malaysia is ready to face any eventuality arising from the possibility of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) being scrapped.

This follows the indication by United States President-elect Donald Trump that he was not in favour of the trade pact.

Don't discriminate NGOs giving humanitarian aid for Rohingya

The Myanmar government is urged not to discriminate against non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from this country in providing humanitarian aid for its population, particularly the Rohingyas.

Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Special Envoy to Myanmar Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said Burma must be fair to all ASEAN countries including Malaysia.

Former Iran president Rafsanjani dies in blow to moderates

Former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani died on Sunday at the age of 82, a big blow to moderates and reformists deprived now of their most influential supporter in the Islamic establishment.

He had been described as "a pillar of the Islamic revolution". His pragmatic policies – economic liberalisation, better relations with the West and empowering elected bodies - appealed to many Iranians but were despised by hardliners.

Thai PM visits flood-battered south: six dead, transport disrupted

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha visited flooded parts of the south of the country on Friday where unseasonable downpours have killed six people, cut road and rail links and forced an airport to close.

Thailand's wet season usually ends in late November and heavy rain and flooding is rare in January, which is high season for beach resorts in the south.

Plymouth hold Liverpool in FA Cup, Chelsea and Spurs win
