The second autopsy result on Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi, 11, a tahfiz student who died on April 26 showed that the cause of death was leptospirosis (rat urine disease).

In a statement today, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the autopsy showed that his death was not because of injuries sustained through alleged beating by his school’s assistant warden.

“A postmortem was conducted at 6pm the day Mohamad Thaqif died.

“Several tissue and blood samples were taken and sent to the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) and to the Chemistry Department for analysis.

“The boy died of leptospirosis, complicated by skin necrosis and a micro blood congealing condition, known as mircothrombi, which affected his blood vessels,” he said in the statement.

He said the post mortem report was given to the police for further action.

Mohamad Thaqif was hospitalised on April 19 for injuries on his legs after he was allegedly canned by the assistant warden of the religious school.
