The decision on whether the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be extended or ended will be made based on the recommendations by the Ministry of Health (MOH), Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

Ismail said the government had not decided on it but any decision taken would be based on the trend of the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country.

“Whether or not we will continue the Phase II of the MCO has not been decided but thankfully from the MOH report, the positive trend is not going up but flattened.

"We pray that if the MCO compliance is well followed, I believe that not only will it be flat but it will likely decline.

"So, the decision to proceed (with the MCO) or not will be made and decided (based on recommendations) by the MOH," he said in a press conference on Thursday.

Previously, the MCO period which was supposed to end on March 31 was extended until April 14.
