Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi proposes for higher education degrees obtained in Malaysia and India to be recognized in both countries.

In realising the matter, a discussion will be held with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as soon as possible.

“Malaysia and India should recognize the degrees given by both the countries. I suggest for this matter to be discussed with Prime Minister Najib Razak soon,” said Modi.

He also said that additional funding for education will be provided to the Indian community in Malaysia.

“A trust fund has been established in 1954 in Malaysia and India to provide financial assistance to Malaysian Indian students who have no access to education. The fund is still required by some of the Indian community in Malaysia and I am pleased to announce an additional grant of one million dollars to the existing fund,” said Modi.

Apart from the medical field, the Indian community should also use this opportunity to venture out into other fields.

“Many of your children head to India to become doctors. Although the medical field is a critical need in our community I hope that you will take the opportunity to venture out into other fields as well,” said Modi.

Modi is expected to launch the 'Torana Gate' in Little India, Brickfields on Monday.
