The remains of a Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) officer and his son who died in an accident in Terengganu on Wednesday, were laid to rest at the Felda Sensing Muslim Cemetery here 12.30 midnight.

MMEA in a statement today said Maritime Lieutenant Md Firdaus Omar, 35, and his eldest son, Muhammad Lutfil Al-Hadi, 8 were buried in one grave at his wife's hometown.

Earlier, a funeral procession led by Lieutenant Commander, Mohd Ardi Mat Nawi was held to pay tribute to the late Md Firdaus.

At the funeral ceremony, Johor MMEA director First Maritime Admiral Nuril Hizam Zakaria also handed over the Malaysian Maritime ensign to Md Firdaus' brother, Junaidi Omar in appreciation of the deceased's contribution and services to the country.

The late Md Firdaus who worked at the Terengganu MMEA, leaves behind his wife, Siti Hawa Mohd, Sebari, 30 and two other children aged six and two.

The media reported that both victims died after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car while coming out of the junction at Taman Perumahan Mega, Kuala Nerus.

During the incident, Md Firdaus was on the way to send his son to the Quran reading class.
