A boat owned by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) ship KD Perdana that went missing in the waters off Sedili last Saturday, has been found safe.

Navy chief Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said the boat was located by the Royal Malaysian Air Force's Beechcraft aircraft, 90 nautical miles east of Kuantan.

"KD Perdana ships boat located by RMAF Beechcraft 90nm east of Kuantan following earlier sighting by a merchant ship. TQ to all!" he said in a tweet on Monday.

In a statement today, the RMN said communication lapsed between the boat and another boat carrying a boarding team on Saturday.

It said one officer and eight personnel were on the boat which was conducting a routine maritime patrol to drive out foreign fishing boats from the area.
