An Egyptian man's vacation trip with his wife turned tragic when he was found drowned, here, four days after he was reported missing at sea after he fell from the Berjaya Resorts and Hotels chalet balcony at Tanjung Burau.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Maritime District 1 director, First Admiral (Maritime) Zulkarnain Mohamad said the body of the victim, Yahya Yousry Mohamad Al-Sayid, 27, was found floating at sea by the search and rescue team, 12 kms away from the scene of the incident.

The body was brought to the marine police jetty at Bukit Malut before being taken to Langkawi Hospital.

Zulkarnain said the rescue operation also involved the Marine Police, Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Department.

"It was a challenging operation due to the strong winds and rough seas and I am grateful to all involved in this search," he said.

Meanwhile, the victim's wife and family members were also waiting at the jetty before following the police vehicle that brought the victim's body to the hospital.

His family is expected to bring home his body to Egypt after the post mortem.
