The holding of the Better Beer Festival 2017 to be held in the federal capital early next month did not receive police support due to security reasons.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, in a statement here, said there was information that militants planned to sabotage the festival.

"The information also revealed that there are some parties planning to disrupt the festival and this will lead to a situation posing security risks," he said here today.

He said to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring, the police had to take proactive measures to object to the festival being held in order to maintain public order.

The Better Beer Festival 2017, which was supposed to be held on Oct 6 and 7 at a premises in Kuala Lumpur, also did not get the approval of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall due to licensing-related factors. -- BERNAMA
