Malaysia Airlines Flight MH6129 is, at the point of writing (just a little after midnight, Friday, Aug 22) cruising above the skies of Germany; three hours into its flight from Amsterdam's Schipol airport headed for Kuala Lumpur.

The MasKargo Boeing 747, bearing the registration 9M-MPS is bringing home the remains of 20 of the 43 Malaysians who perished in the downing of MH17 over the skies of Ukraine on Jul7 17.

Many are spending a sleepless night tracking the flight path of the aircraft as it took off from Schipol at 1530 GMT. This being the age of the internet, its every move is being tracked through Twitter postings among others.

The flight is scheduled to maintain a cruising altitude of just over 30,000 feet and is clearly seen flying way south of Ukrainian airspace. It is expected to arrive at 9.30am local time.

An elaborate ceremony has been arranged at the Bunga Raya VIP terminal at the KLIA which marks a full day of national mourning.
