The government today decided all Ramadan bazaars, whether in the form of ‘drive-thru’ or ‘pack and pick up’ were not allowed to operate while the Movement Control Order (MCO) was still in force.

Senior Minister (Security), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said he had been studying and listening to the Federal Territories Ministry through the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on the proposal to implement the Ramadan bazaar in those forms.

"Today's meeting has ruled that any form of business related to bazaars or booths including drive-throughs as well as pre-order pack and pick-ups are not allowed at all.

"So, no more issues related to Ramadan bazaars or e-iftar, it is not allowed," he stressed at a press conference here today.

However, Ismail Sabri clarified online pre-orders and the use of e-hailing services to deliver such orders were still allowed.

"Any kind of bazaar... even if there is an e-hailing involved, it is not allowed.

“If we create (allow) bazaars, for example a cluster of 50 stalls and e-hailing (delivery workers) come to pick up the food (with so many people), it can't be done... That's why I mentioned earlier, bazaars are not allowed.

"But the normal e-hailing business that we have now, where they send food to homes, that can continue as usual," he said.
