The government has set up another special line to address domestic abuse cases, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the action was taken following concerns that domestic abuse cases may increase during the duration of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“We have also heard of complaints about domestic violence, and there have been concerns about cases of abuse during the MCO.

“In order to address cases of domestic violence and child abuse, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development as well as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have set up a special line to assist victims,” he added.

The Bera Member of Parliament said those who needed assistance were urged to contact the Talian Kasih 15999 or file a complaint via Whatsapp on 019 261 5999.

Earlier, the media reported that the Women's Aid Organization (WAO) had received a 14 per cent increase in the number of calls and complaints through WhatsApp over cases of domestic violence involving women.

It was claimed that the increase in complaints was because the victim and the perpetrator were spending more time at home following the enforcement of the MCO.
