A married couple was killed when the lorry they were travelling in rammed into another lorry at Km154.9 of the North South Expressway here yesterday evening.

In the incident at about 5.30 pm, their two daughters who were also travelling in the lorry, were injured after being tapped inside the mangled vehicle.

Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) District Police chief Supt Shafee Abdul Samad said the lorry driver Khosim Ismail, 32, and his wife Khairunnisa Ahmad Kamaluddin, 31, from Felda Lepar Utara 3 in Jerantut, Pahang were killed on the spot due to severe head and body injuries.

"Their daughters Khairiyah Alisha,10, and Khaira Amni, 17 months old were injured in the accident while the driver of the other lorry Amir Muaz Kamsani, 25, only sustained minor injuries," he said here today.

He said the accident was believed to have occurred after Khosim failed to halt his car during a congestion on that route before ramming the back of the lorry which was at the emergency lane.
