The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim) requires a RM10 million fund for its Ramadan mission to four countries, scheduled to begin in early June.

Its president, Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said the fund would be used to prepare and deliver food and basic needs, in preparation for the month of Ramadan for the people of Palestine, Syria, Myanmar and Somalia.

"At the moment, our volunteers are identifying what essential items are needed in each country, and the estimated cost to buy and ship the goods there involves about RM10 million.

"About 30 local and international non-governmental organisations will be involved in the Ramadan mission," he told reporters after a special post-Food Flotilla For Myanmar.

Mohd Azmi said they also welcomed contributions from the public.

He said those who intended to help can channel the money to Mapim's Bank Islam account no: 020-200-100-722-72.
