A 52-year-old man who is a suspect in a rape and sodomy case involving three school boys was found dead on Tuesday evening.

He is believed to have hung himself in a hotel room.

State CID chief Datuk Gan Tian Kee said the body of the suspect who is also school football team physiotherapist was found by a hotel worker at 5.40pm.

He said a day before his death, three students aged 14 and 15 had lodged a police report claiming the man had raped and sodomised them.

"Investigations revealed the incidents took place from may 2016 until march 2017 at the house of the suspect and in hotel rooms.

"The suspect would give a pill to the victim, claiming it is to make their bodies stronger. When the victims become semi-conscious, he would then rape them," he said in a statement.

After sexually assaulting them, the suspect would then take the victims out to buy handphones, clothes, pants and shoes.

He said the body of the suspect has been sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortem.

He said police have classified the case as sudden death pending further investigations.
