The police have detained a man for possession of a Taiwan-made imitation pistol in a raid at a shophouse in Kampung Bukit Pasir here last Sunday.

District police chief, ACP Azman Ayob said the 32-year-old suspect was picked up at 5.50pm, following the seizure of the pistol in his rucksack.

Also seized were three magazines, a plastic jar containing silver-coloured metal bearings and a plastic container filled with white-coloured plastic pellets.

"A transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like powder believed to be syabu was found inside a cigarette box," Azman said in a statement at the Muar police headquarters here on Tuesday.

In a separate development, the police have detained a 28-year-old female bank officer on suspicion of committing criminal breach of trust involving RM450,000 on Oct 5.

Azman said on Oct 7, Kedah police picked up the suspect in Langkawi and handed her over to the Muar police headquarters to facilitate investigations.
