Malaysians can get to see for themselves a meteor shower from the constellation Camelopardalis from 8pm beginning today and tomorrow.

According to a statement from the National Space Agency (Angkasa), about 100 to 400 meteors an hour can be seen by the naked eye.

“The meteor shower will be from the constellation Camelopardalis in the northern sky and it is expected to peak at 6UTC to 8UTC which is from 2pm to 4pm local time,” Angkasa said in a statement on May 9.

It added the meteor shower can be seen from places with less light pollution, depending on the weather on the night itself.

Apart from that the possibility of seeing the meteor shower would be less if the old crescent moon appears at about 3am today and tomorrow.

Those who want to see the meteor should do so after 8pm on both days.
