Malaysia will not recognise nor entertain any claims by the Philippines or any party on Sabah, said the Foreign Affairs Ministry today.

The ministry has also summoned Consul-General, Menardo G. Macaraig over the remarks made by Philippine President Benigno Aquino concerning the matter.

"The Government of Malaysia reiterates its position that Malaysia does not recognise and will not entertain any claims by any party on Sabah.

"Sabah is recognised by the United Nations (UN) and international community as part of Malaysia since 16 September 1963," the ministry said in a statement.

In an interview with journalist Raissa Robles on May 15, Aquino was quoted as saying that he will not drop the Philippines' claim to Sabah.
