Online shopping is growing rapidly and the Malaysian economy is the fastest growing online marketplace today with sales of the top merchants touching over US$700,000 (US$1 = RM4.46) in the last six months.

In a statement today, global deals platform, Paylesser, said mobile shopping has become more popular as revealed in its recently-published website traffic data for September 2016 to February 2017.

"About 55 per cent of the 250,000 visitors used smartphones, desktops (38 per cent) and tablets (seven per cent) to reach Paylesser Malaysia website," it said.

In terms of demographics, it said, 21 per cent of total customers were in the age bracket of 18 to 24 years, 49 per cent in 25 to 34 years and 17 per cent in 35 to 44 years.

Paylesser's user base comprised 50.35 per cent males and 49.65 per cent females during the period under review.

Paylesser Chief Executive Officer, Suneet Manchanda, said as a leading provider of coupons and deals globally, the company aimed to provide the best saving opportunities for all online shoppers in Malaysia.

Paylesser has over 100,000 deals and coupons for over 5,000 merchants globally whereby in Malaysia, it offered more than 1,500 deals for leading online retailers such as Lazada, Zalora and Agoda. -- Bernama
