Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today said the expenditures for his official working visits as well as other cabinet ministers could be reduced or avoided.

He said, this is because each of his visits are meant to be with the people, listening to their problems and finding solutions together.

“Based on my observations during my recent working visits, I can see that there are still ways we can reduce or avoid expenses.

“I am thankful for all the preparations to welcome me. I understand if there is a protocol that should be followed, but wherever possible, we should cut down on preparation such as red carpet, special dishes and so on.

“Our main focus is the rakyat and not the protocol,” he said in his latest blog entry, NajibRazak.com.

Najib added that during the first Cabinet meeting of the year on Jan 6, he had reminded the ministries to spend their allocation wisely.
