The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a managing director of a Prasarana subsidiary company, Project Technical Support Rapid Cheras Selatan for allegedly abusing his position and for graft.

The 54-year-old suspect was arrested together with his wife in Kuala Lumpur at about 6.30pm today.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect had taken bribe to approve several projects involving bus repairs and spare parts.

The suspect was believed to have taken bribe of about RM500,000 since 2013.

According to a source, the money was transferred into the suspect's wife's bank account since 2013.

The suspect had before this served as chief operation executive of Rapid Penang, another Prasarana subsidiary.

MACC Investigation division director Datuk Simi Abd Ghani when contacted, confirmed the arrest. He said the duo will be remanded until tomorrow to assist in the case investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) SPRM 2009.
