The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commision (MACC) has recorded a statement from businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low, and SRC International Sdn Bhd director Datuk Suboh Md Yassin abroad last Sunday on the company and political funding of RM2.6 billion.

MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said the statements were recorded by MACC officers, adding that he had yet to read the statements made by Jho Low and Suboh.

He however, declined to divulge further on the statements.

Touching on MACC's intention to record a statement from Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the issue, he said the commission was waiting for Najib to respond.

"I hope the PM will respond on this as soon as possible but it is all up to him because he is quite busy at the moment," Mohd Shukri told reporters after attending the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy Gala Dinner Night here, Wednesday.

The function was officiated by Dewan Negara Speaker Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.

On Nov 12, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said the commission had contacted the Prime Minister's Office over the matter and Najib had agreed to have his statement recorded.

He said MACC was waiting for a date to interview Najib on the issues related to the investigation.

Najib, on the same day said he would give a statement to the MACC, soon after Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali told him that he was required to give a statement to the commission in connection with the issue on political fund, so that the investigations can be completed as soon as possible.

SRC International was a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) until it was placed under the Finance Ministry in 2012.
