The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two policemen who were believed to have solicited for and received bribes from a suspect in a drug-related case.

Negeri Sembilan MACC Director, Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the two police sergeants, aged 30 and 28, were detained near a restaurant in Temiang, here at 7.30pm Wednesday.

"Both of them, who are attached to the Seremban District Police Headquarters' Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, were detained after a 36-year-old construction worker lodged a complaint that the police sergeants had asked for RM2,800 before handing over RM500.

"They were suspected to have solicited for and received money from the complainant to change the results of the urine tests by the Chemistry Department to negative on the drug samples," he told Bernama.

He said the remand application would be made on Thursday and investigation would be carried out under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
