The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested two registration assistants from the Semporna branch of the National Registration Department for suspected involvement in corruption activities and abuse of power involving the issuance of identity cards.

The two suspects, a man aged 45, and a woman aged 40, were arrested in Semporna at 6pm and 8.20pm respectively.

They are believed to have received RM2,000 each for the process of issuing identity cards for a set of twins in Semporna.

Sabah MACC director Datuk Sazali Salbi when contacted, confirmed the two arrests and said they would be remanded for five days to facilitate investigations.
