Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has stressed that he still holds the position of Prime Minister unless ordered to appear before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to be informed that the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has fulfilled the requirements of the Federal Constitution to change the government.

In fact, Muhyiddin asserted, if he himself had submitted his resignation letter or advised the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament, then the situation would be completely different.

According to the Prime Minister, he did not receive any notification to appear before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the matter.

"If that is the case, then it is one of what is provided in the Constitution.

"So, I am no longer there as Prime Minister and I submit a letter to resign and if the Yang di-Pertuan Agong accepts, then the position is vacant.

"Or there is a second thing, if I think the situation in our country is like this not because I want to remain as Prime Minister but follow the provisions in the Constitution, then I will propose to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for Parliament to be dissolved and if consented to be dissolved, then Parliament is dissolved," he said while addressing the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Assembly and Semarak at the Pisompuruan Hall here on Friday.

At the same time, the PN Chairman explained that his position as Prime Minister was in line with what is enshrined in the Constitution.

Muhyiddin also said that he had referred the issue of his post to the Attorney General, Tan Sri Idrus Harun who confirmed that he is still the Prime Minister.

"I am not saying that I reject what is in the Constitution, I am a responsible leader and I abide by the Constitution.

"I am standing here in Tambunan because I am still Prime Minister and I am not crazy about power," said the Bersatu president.

The Prime Minister said this as a comment on Anwar's statement claiming that he had obtained a sufficient number of MPs to form a new government.

"He (Anwar) made a statement, but when the media asked him who supported him, he did not answer and he told to wait.

"He said the number is big, almost two-thirds, then it would be extraordinary and I do not want to simply reject the statement because it is about my position," he added.
