In order to combat the rising threats of terrorism, United States President Barack Obama urged global communities and world leaders to not succumb to fear.

"This is what the terrorists want. The most powerful tool we have in fighting terrorists like ISIL is that we cannot be afraid," said Obama at a press conference following an ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur.

Besides that, he also vowed to cut down the financal sources of the terrorists, as well as co-operating with other nations to hunt them down.

"We are ready to cooperate with other countries in combating ISIL. We will cut down their finances, we will hunt them down, we will destroy ISIL," he said.

However, he said the US will not be at war with any religion including Islam.

"United States cannot be at war with any religion, including Islam," said Obama.

The US President flew into Malaysia for the 3rd ASEAN-US Summit as well as the 10th East Asia Summit in conjunction with the 27th ASEAN Summit which opened Friday.

During the press conference, he insisted that he will he would go ahead with a visit to Paris for world climate talks despite the deadly attacks there that left 130 dead.

The recent attacks in the French capital, Lebanon and Mali has called for world leaders to raise up an effort in putting an end to militant groups like ISIS and IS.

Recently, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has also voiced his determination to defeat militant groups and their extremist ideologies emerging in this region, stressing that there was no place for extremism in society.
