The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) will cooperate with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to curb the spread of fake news of fuel prices.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the move was necessary to enable action to be taken against those spreading false news which confused the people.

"I urge the public not to listen to fake and ridiculous speculation concerning fuel prices because they are all untrue," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after visiting the Selama Hospital to hand over haemodialysis and Reverse Osmosis Water System machines worth RM157,000 sponsored by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), here today.

Hamzah, who is also Larut Member of Parliament, said KPDNKK only furnished information to Radio And Television Malaysia (RTM) on fuel prices every Wednesday to be channelled to other media.
